Turkish flavor - Honour by Elif Shafak

An ingeniously plotted book. It is striking, full of passion, an evocative sense of place. So vivid, remarkable like a blast of cold. And a very provocative oeuvre!
When a writer delivers such a complex and fascinating portrayal, with its dazzling events, round characters, dark, labyrinthine plot, all we can sense is this blend of feelings ranging between the bewilderment, the anger, the abhorrence, and the pity and fear.
The novel starts with "My mother died twice". A sentence that sets the mood of the book. Merry moments are limited and very few. You'll get used to the gloominess, clouds of grief will keep you company as long as you're holding the book in your palms.
